Flashlights!

I'm not good with keeping batteries in my flashlights---THERE I said it! I have 6 flashlights, they are all different colors, and I know IF THEY HAD batteries they would be so helpful.

I do have THIS ONE....that doesn't need batteries....it's amazing....it's a 'book reading lite' and for some reason it ALWAYS works....even during Hurricane IKE it worked....anytime the lights go out I trip over stuff to find my little, tiny book reading lite! ya'll it's TINY.....and it's funny watching Kyleigh and I sharing it to get dressed to find my keys to um....look for batteries for the other 6 flashlights that really want to be put in the game.

I have been thinking.....aren't we suppossed to be like flashlights in a dark world? I have been told that in my NEWER days of being a Christian (I'm not new anymore ya'll-by the way) Anyway.....I have heard "Melissa you are a light in this dark world..." "Now Melissa don't forget to be a light in this dark world" then all of a sudden I HEARD ME say, "We are to be a light in this dark world..." (I think I even said it with a british accent-so it sounded prettier)....Not sure who I said it to....but I'm sure they are still lookin' around wondering what had gotten into me.

Sometimes I feel like the flashlight in the "junk drawer" though.
Junk Drawer? What? You don't have one of those.....? Hmmmmmm its the drawer in your kitchen or desk in or around your kitchen it's usually filled with the following:
Old batteries mixed in with new
Old business cards
Drs. appt. cards
An old cell phone charger from a phone that looks like a fax machine
Old pictures
A magnet
Gum
A Screw Driver
A shout-it-out wipe
A marker
6 crayolas
Tape
Broken scissors
Old receipts
A Skinny picture of yourself (maybe that's just me-but whatever...)
and there it lays.......still looks amazing, and when you see it you know it's function....but it's just not doing what it's intended for...especially laying in that drawer full of junk....THE FLASHLIGHT!

I can relate. Can you?

I know God did not die for me to be stuck in some junk drawer, he did not go through fires for me so that I can lay next to some unused tape and a old pacifier. He intended for ME, Melissa Williams to be a light in a dark world. When you see me, I look like that's what I was intended for.....but if I continue to sit in the junk drawer I will never be 100%.

Batteries?

Read my Bible
Surround myself with other "flashlights"
Talk about "being that light"
Don't be ashamed of being the brightest one in the room.

Funny, kind of ironic that my BOOK READING LITE, is my brightest....hhhmmm and it never fails me? BOOK-READING-LITE....

I want to be a BRL!!!
